Interview with Head Coach Lorenzo Villarreal:
1. What is your club’s official name?
San Antonio SWIFT Track Club
2. Where is your club based (where do you practice)?
We are based in San Antonio TX and our home practice facility is Antonian College Preparatory High School
3. When was your club established?
Our club was established in the fall of 2013. It was the year San Antonio was hosting USATF XC Junior Olympics and SeaWorld hosted the opening ceremonies.
4. What is your coaching background?
I have been coaching for 11 years.
5. What is your athletic background?
I ran distance in High school; XC and track and D1 collegiate level.
6. How many coaches do you have on your staff?
We have 18 coaches
7. What is your coaching philosophy?
Helping athletes find joy in dicipline and love in what they do.
8. On a scale of 1-10, how competitive is your program?
10
9. What is the age range of the athletes you coach?
6 yrs - 18 yrs
10. How many athletes are part of your program?
By the end of the season, we have between 200-225 athletes
11. Who has been the most successful athlete from your program?
We have a handful of athletes in all areas of speciality groups who are State Champions, All Americans, National Champions, and National Record holders.

12. What is your proudest coaching moment in your career?
My proudest coaching moments is watching athletes improve. Seeing and being apart of their “breakthrough” moments and what they thought was impossible.
13. Do you coach all track and field or long distance running events? If not, which ones do you not coach?
I coach distance in track and field and XC.
14. Why did you become a coach?
My daughter. I initially became a coach 11 years ago because there wasn't a distance youth program available to join for my kids. I also have a tremendous amount of fund workign with kids.
