Highlights, 2023 USATF Junior Olympic Games

This year's 2023 USATF Junior Olympics was a week to remember.

The following are some of the highlights and USATF Texas Southern All American Athletes:

From Texas Select Track Club:
  • David ‘DJ’ Rogers - USATF National Junior Olympic Champion in the 10u boys long jump who jumped 15-05.50
  • For the 80m hurdles ages 11-12, Kannon Wright ran 12.55 for 4th overall and Rhett Rogers ran 12.86 for 5th overall
  • Dylan Wright finished 2nd overall in the 9-10 year old Triathlon
  • Kannon Wright in the HJ placed 4th overall 4-11 for the 11-12 age group
  • David Rogers in the 200m ran 27.18 for the 9-10 year age group
  • Kannon Wright placed 6th overall in the pentathlon for 11-12 year olds
  • Texas Select Boys 4x100 Meter Relay team in the 11-12 age group placed 6th overall with a 50.92 - Team of Hudson Schneider, Rhett Rogers, Elexander Thompson, Kannon Wright
  • Texas Select Boys 4x100 Meter Relay in the 9-10 age group places 4th overall with a 54.89 -Team of Dylan Wright, David DJ Rogers, Aiden Mack, Brody Torrez
  • Rhett Rogers in the long jump finished 5th overall in the 11-12 age group and jumped 16-06.50

From Zion Hill Running Club:
  • 4×800M relay finished 6th place - 8:31.29- team of - Adrian Agguire, Xavier Padron, Jordan Avalos, Robert Salinas
  • Nellie Mauritz-Barbosa in the 13/14 YR age group in the pole vault finished 7th place 9-08.00

Unattached Athletes:
  • Future Sam Houston State Bearkat Zerah Martinez from Sinton placed 7th in the 1500m with a 4:52.45 for 17/18 year olds
  • Poth HS Pirate Aiden Reed in the 15-16 year old shot put threw 51-8.25 for 4th place
  • Brody Reed placed 3rd in the 10u shot put with a throw of 30-10.25
